Talpos Today September 2006
Dear Friends and family,
Greetings from Romania! I have arrived safely. Thank the Lord!
I first want to thank you for all your prayers regarding my health. Thank God all my tests and radiology results came back negative for cancer The surgeon I saw in the states gave me the okay to return to Romania with the understanding that I find a physician here that I will visit every three months for regular check-ups. I would appreciate your prayers as I attempt to find a good doctor that I can trust.
Since my return, I have hit the ground running. My first few days were busy unpacking and getting adjusted to the time change (which I am still working on). :) We were also able to have a birthday party for Nicoleta. She is now 14 years old. Wow, how time flies! Thank you Brother Tom and Sis. Judy from Maine for making this party possible. The kids had a great time!

It is wonderful to be back in Romania. Even though my summer was very busy visiting you, I missed the children and young people so much while I was in the states. I can’t explain the joy I felt as I hugged each one of them hello. I felt like I was back home.
It was also wonderful to see fellow H.I.M. missionaries. For those of you who aren’t aware, The Daryl Hausman family is now living in Salonta where Brother and Sister Merv Potteiger used to live. I am thrilled that they are here and it will be a joy to work together with them. They have already been such a blessing to me the short time I’ve been back and I know they will be a great help as we labor together. Welcome Daryl, Laura, Natasha, Brittany, Darla and Bryan.

The orphans are doing well. School starts on September 15th and two of our orphans will have a little adjusting to do. Neli had been attending our church kindergarten and she will now be going to the village school for 1st grade. Adela will be in high school. This means she will have to take the bus into Salonta because the village school only goes to 8th grade. I’m sure they both would appreciate your prayers as they begin their new schools.
Please continue to pray for the fellowship center. We are still waiting for all the authorizations to begin building. We need God to take control in the processing of the needed permits or we won’t be able to start construction until the end of October. Then we have to begin worrying about getting the walls up and the roof on before winter.
Personally, I would like to again thank all of you who gave toward the Fellowship Center and remind you about your pledges if you haven’t sent them in.
Many of you this summer told me you would like to get involved with our special Christmas project. As most of you know for the past four Christmases we have been able to give out health and beauty aid products to the gypsy children, food packs to the poorer families in the village and special treats to the orphans, teens and church children. If possible, we would like to again do that this year.
Every year you have been so generous in your giving and because of your generosity many lives have truly been blessed and touched by your kindness.
As you look at some of the pictures from last year you can see how happy the ones were who received packs.
Once again you can help to make the holidays more special for some of the Romanian people. Please pray and ask God what He wants you to give this Holiday season.
If are interested in being involved in this project, please send your gift to the home office marked "Romanian Christmas Fund" and I know that God will bless you for your giving.
Thank you again for your prayers and support. They mean so much to me and to the people here.
In His Service,
Sally
Some would gather money
Along the path of life.
Some would gather roses
And rest from earthly strife.
But I would gather children
From among the thorns of sin;
I would seek a golden curl
And a freckled, toothless grin.
For money cannot enter
Into the land of endless day,
And roses that are gathered
Soon will wilt along the way,
But oh, the laughing children,
As I cross the sunset sea,
And the gates swing wide to heaven
I can take them in with me.
