Talpos Today November 2007

Dear friends and family,

Greetings from chilly Romania!  Since arriving from the states just a few days ago, I have had to “fire up” my wood stoves to keep warm.  Winter seems to be arriving early in Romania.  However, it’s good to be back even if it was a cold welcome :-).

As most of you know, I had been in America since September 24th raising finances for the fellowship center.  The Lord helped in a wonderful way and I am thrilled to tell you that through offerings and pledges, the financial goal was reached.  What a mighty God we serve!  Many of you prayed and many of you gave.  Thank you so much and God bless you!

Because the weather has turned cold so quickly, it has hampered a bit what can be done at the center.  Even with the freezing temperatures, some work can still be done, but not as much as we had wanted.  We are praying that the weather will warm up so more work can be completed.

While traveling in the states, I was able to stay at several friends’ homes.  Most of these friends are married with children.  I wanted to share with you a few pictures of the kids that I was able to spend some time with.  It was a joy for me to visit with these children (and their parents :-).  The Lord knew that I would miss “my kids” from Romania too much if I didn’t have the opportunity to hang out with some little people.

I also was able to squeeze in enough time to get a family      picture.  My Mom’s mom will be turning 90 in December and we thought it would be a nice birthday gift for her to have pictures of all her grandchildren and great grand daughter.  Shhh….don’t tell her it’s a surprise. :-)

A few weeks before leaving for America, I was able to take the 5 oldest orphans on a short trip to the central part of Romania. This area is known for its beautiful mountains, castles, old churches and citadels.  None of the kids had been to this part of the country to visit before and we had a wonderful time seeing all the sites.  It was also a new experience for them to stay in a motel.  They were so well behaved and so appreciative.  I really enjoyed the privilege of taking them.  Thank you to those who gave specifically for this trip.

After the trip with the orphans, we were blessed to be visited by H.I.M.’s president Sidney Grant and his wife, along with our regional director William Saxton and his wife.  The Hausman family hosted them, but they were able to spend some time in Talpos and we were all also able to enjoy a delicious meal at the orphanage.

Just a few days before those from H.I.M. arrived, my cousin and her husband also came to visit.  They both spent some quality time with the orphans, taught my Bible classes and also worked hard at the center helping with several different   projects.  Thank you Kelly and Andrew for everything you did to help.  It was a joy to have you here.

Not many days before I came to the states, I took the Daryl Hausman family to the airport to start their extended furlough.  It was a sad day for me to see them go.  They are a wonderful family, magnificent co-workers and great people.  They are surely missed.   It has been hard getting used to them not being here.  Please help me pray that God will bless them and help them during their time home.  Miss you guys!

The next few weeks will be extremely hectic.  Besides my regular responsibilities, we must start working on Christmas programs and Christmas packs.  Along with this, Lord willing, there will be a work team coming from my home church the end of November.  I would appreciate your continued prayers for the Lord's strength and help.

Thank you in advance for your prayers and for your ongoing support.  God bless you!

In His Service,
Sally Sebo

Just wanted to share a few updated pictures of the center.  The large room downstairs has been painted, the kitchen, the hallway and stairway is ready to be painted.  There will be plenty for the team to do when they come in November.

Some would gather money
Along the path of life.
Some would gather roses
And rest from earthly strife.
But I would gather children
From among the thorns of sin;
I would seek a golden curl
And a freckled, toothless grin.
For money cannot enter
Into the land of endless day,
And roses that are gathered
Soon will wilt along the way,
But oh, the laughing children,
As I cross the sunset sea,
And the gates swing wide to heaven
I can take them in with me.
