Talpos Today March 2006
Dear Friends and family,
Greetings from cold and windy Romania! Spring will soon be here, but winter is holding on as long as it can :-). I trust this letter finds you doing well.
In the past week, I have traveled over 1,500 miles through Romania, Ukraine and Hungary. I was blessed with 8 visitors: H.I.M’s Eastern Europe Regional Director Dr. Saxton with his wife Judy, fellow H.I.M. missionaries Tim and Cheryl Boyd with their 3 children Laura, Timothy and Leah plus Stopa, a Ukrianian fellow who was traveling with the Boyds. It was such a blessing to have them here; what an enjoyable time we had visiting together.

I know that Christmas time has passed, but in my last letter I mentioned that I would share some pictures with you of the ones that we were able to help because of your giving.
You can see by their smiling faces, that they truly enjoyed all that they received.
I want to thank you again for all your giving. We were able to make 70 church children packs, 50 poor family packs, 250 gypsy packs, 15 teen packs and orphan packs.
Each pack was received with joy, some with tears and all with great thanks for your generosity. God bless you for your kindness to the Romanian people!
Most of the packs were easy to distribute, but I want to share with you the “interesting” way that the gypsy packs were given.
Because the gypsy church in Batar is located right in the center of the gypsy community, we have to be so careful about how we hand out the packs. If I would come with all the packs in broad daylight, soon a large mob of people would begin to gather outside the church demanding that I also give a pack to each one of them. This can prove to be very difficult and sometimes dangerous because I don’t have packs for every gypsy in the village.
So, by cover of darkness :-) on the Saturday evening before handing out the packs, I filled my car and went to meet one of the church elders. We then quietly carried all 250 packs inside the church and hid them in a back room until the next day. I was sneaking around as if I was committing a crime, not trying to be helpful. But that is just how things have to be taken care of when dealing with the gypsy community. The next day we didn’t have any major problems and the packs were delivered without any major incident, thank the Lord!
The warmer weather will soon be coming and that brings thoughts to mind of continued construction for the fellowship center. The builder has advised me that if we build the walls this year that we also should have the roof completed. At this time, we have enough finances to pour the floors and pay for the taxes of the building, but are far from what we need to put up the walls, plus the roof.
So, after much prayer and consideration and discussing this issue with Dr. Saxton, I have decided to come home this summer for deputation. It has been two years since my last deputation and with this financial need before us, I felt that it would be best for me to share this need with you face to face.
If you are interested in scheduling a missions service please e-mail me at sallysebo@zappmobile.ro or call (570)421-8258 and ask for Luella Sebo. Because of the short notice regarding my deputation, it will be necessary for my mother to help me schedule my services. At this time, H.I.M. has many missionaries who are on deputation or who will be on deputation this summer and so the home office is already very busy with their scheduling.
So pastors and/or missionary presidents be aware, my mother is on the job and she is a very ambitious individual, so she will be attempting to fill up my schedule as quickly as possible :).
I will begin my deputation services on Sunday May 21st and plan to schedule services up through Wednesday August 16th. Because of the brevity of my stay in the states, I’m not sure that I will be able to visit all of you, but I will try to squeeze in as many services as possible.
I can hardly wait to see you again and share with you what God has been doing here in Romania.
Well, I must be going. I will look forward to hearing from you.
In His Service,
Sally
Some would gather money
Along the path of life.
Some would gather roses
And rest from earthly strife.
But I would gather children
From among the thorns of sin;
I would seek a golden curl
And a freckled, toothless grin.
For money cannot enter
Into the land of endless day,
And roses that are gathered
Soon will wilt along the way,
But oh, the laughing children,
As I cross the sunset sea,
And the gates swing wide to heaven
I can take them in with me.
