Talpos Today July 2006
Dear Friends and family,
Greetings from America! I haven’t been able to say that for a long time. :)
I arrived back in the states on May 9th and started my deputation services May 21st. I am so sorry that I haven’t written sooner, but I have been extremely busy. Please accept my apologies and I trust that there won’t be such a large gap between my newsletters again.
As most of you know I have been in America visiting different churches and sharing about the work that has been going on in Romania. My main purpose for this deputation tour is to raise finances for the next phase of the Hope Christian Fellowship Center.
We would like to have the walls up and the shell enclosed before this winter. The Lord has been helping in a wonderful way and as of now, we have almost 80% of what we need for that next phase. Thank the Lord! I also want to thank each one of you for your giving.

It has been so good to be home and to see my family and friends. It has also been a blessing to be in many of your homes and churches. At the time I am writing this letter I have spoken on 40 different occasions and I have 12 more services scheduled.
Thanks to each one that opened your heart and home during my travels. Everyone made me feel so welcome, but Brother and Sister Glenn Hostetter from Gratz, Pennsylvania were the only ones that showed me an "outward sign" of how welcome I was.:) I pray that God will bless you all for your kindness to me.

Since being gone from Romania, I have really missed "my kids". I have been able to keep in contact with them over the phone, but it’s just not the same. I can’t wait to get back "home". However, in many of the places I stayed this summer, I have been able to spend time with a lot of little ones.
Usually I have just pictures of Romanian children in my newsletters, so I thought I would share with you some pictures of just a few of the children I saw this summer.
I would have to say one of my more unique "services" was in North Carolina with the Archdale Pilgrim Holiness youth. My close friends Lucas and Hannah Shrout asked me to come and share about the work in Romania, but the setting was a little different than usual. We all went hiking on Pilot Mountain and there is where I talked to the youth about the work in Romania. Thank you so much Archdale youth for an enjoyable and exhilarating afternoon.
When I left Romania, Spring had sprung :) and Summer was right around the corner. The little ones wanted to pick flowers and the most abundant flowers in my former garden area were daisies. You can see by the pictures that the children enjoyed themselves thoroughly and I had many cupfuls of daisies to put around my house. Now Cristi didn’t want his picture taken with daises. He asked if he could take a picture with my dog, Rexi. Now that you see Rexi, you can understand why my evening "visitors" have decreased in number. :-)
Also, before leaving Romania, I took pictures of all the orphans so I would have updated pictures to show the churches I visited. As I was looking over the pictures I couldn't believe how much some of the children have grown. I wanted to share with you some of the pictures so you could also see how they've grown. It has been such a privilege to work with these children. I feel so blessed to be able to be a part of the ongoing work in Romania.
I had sent many of you a prayer request via e-mail about a man from our church in Talpoş who had been diagnosed with brain cancer. I’m sorry to inform you that since then I received word that Brother Cornel passed away. I ask you to please pray for his family at this time. His son Flavius is from my teen class and it has been very difficult for him and the rest of the family. I’m sure that they would appreciate your prayers.
I also would appreciate your prayers. Since being home, I have had some diagnostic testing that showed some abnormalities and I am now scheduled to go for a mammogram to further investigate the severity of my problem. Because of a strong family history of cancer, the doctor did not want me to go back to Romania without more in-depth studies. Please help me pray that the results will show no signs of cancer. I will keep you updated.
Well, I think that is all for now. Thank you again for your continued prayers and support. That means so much to me. God bless!
In His Service,
Sally
Some would gather money
Along the path of life.
Some would gather roses
And rest from earthly strife.
But I would gather children
From among the thorns of sin;
I would seek a golden curl
And a freckled, toothless grin.
For money cannot enter
Into the land of endless day,
And roses that are gathered
Soon will wilt along the way,
But oh, the laughing children,
As I cross the sunset sea,
And the gates swing wide to heaven
I can take them in with me.
