Talpos Today August 2007

Dear friends and family,

Hello from Romania!  I trust that you are having a blessed summer.  Here in Romania, the gardens are producing vegetables, the crops are growing, the trees are full of soon to pick fruits and (my favorite) the sunflowers are blooming.  We are enjoying the blessings of God everyday.  He has been so good to us

I am sorry about how long it has been since you have heard from me.  Things have been busy as usual.  Since last writing you, the kids have started their summer break, but not without first having their end of the year closing services.

The church kindergarten had a special service on a Sunday evening where they sang songs and quoted scriptures and poems about God’s creation.  We also sang a song and quoted a Bible verse in English.  It was a joy to be part of their celebration.  Out of the 18 kindergarteners there are four that will be moving on to first grade, one of them being Cristi.  I can’t believe how much he has grown!  What a delight to be able to work with him and so many others like him. What a joy to be in the center of God’s will

I also was able to attend the end of the year celebration for the public elementary school.   All the first graders sang some songs and quoted poems about what they learned throughout the year (Neli was part of that class).  Also, the principal handed out certificates for the 3 highest percentages in each class.  This year we were so proud to have four of our orphans receive these honors:  Neli, Tibi, Ionut and Remus.  This is evidence of their hard work and also the hard work of the ladies at the orphanage who spend hours tutoring the children.

Since school is out, the little ones have a lot more free time on their hands.  So we have taken advantage of that and have had the opportunity to do a few extra fun things.  We have been to the city on several occasions, visited some of the parks, enjoyed a cook-out and even had a few sleep-overs at my house.  Of course there are plans for more fun with all the orphans before the summer is over. :-)

This summer we also were blessed to have a TLC group here in Romania.  The Hausman family hosted the team, but I also got a chance to spend some time with them while they were here.  They were a fun, respectable and hard working team.  They spent days scrapping layers of old paint off my gate and also worked long hard days at the fellowship center.  Thank you team for all that you did and may God bless you!

Speaking of the Fellowship center let me tell you where we are.  God has been helping and blessing and we are still progressing.  The outside of the building is basically finished, besides a few minor things.  The inside work is also coming along.  Brother Daryl has been working hard framing out the walls and ceilings in the upstairs rooms and will soon need help in hanging sheet rock.  We also will soon be ready to paint some of the downstairs rooms.

So, if anyone is interested in “dropping by” to help, you can contact me at sally@sallysebo.com.  We would love to have you!  If you can’t come, please pray that God would lay it on the heart of someone else to come and give us a helping hand.

If this summer doesn’t work out for you, we could also use some help this fall.  By then, we hope to be ready to work on the flooring, the rest of the painting and plumbing.  So, if any of you churches out there would be interested in sending a small experienced work team, please let me know.  I ask you to sincerely pray with an open heart and mind for God’s direction in this matter.  I hope that I will hear from some of you soon.

Also, I would ask you to please continue to pray about the finances for the center.  Unfortunately, the value of the dollar here has dropped significantly (and is still dropping) and the costs of building materials are rising.  These two problems have put a major strain on the progress.  We are carefully choosing what is most important at this stage to complete in correlation with the finances we have.  We know that this building will be used by God to share His love with so many and for this reason we want to have the center up and running as soon as possible.

You have been so faithful in your giving and I thank you, but again I am asking you to please prayerfully consider sending an additional donation for the center.  Your donations can be sent to H.I.M. marked clearly, for the center.  Thank you in advance and I know that God will bless you for your giving.

In His Service,
Sally Sebo

Some would gather money
Along the path of life.
Some would gather roses
And rest from earthly strife.
But I would gather children
From among the thorns of sin;
I would seek a golden curl
And a freckled, toothless grin.
For money cannot enter
Into the land of endless day,
And roses that are gathered
Soon will wilt along the way,
But oh, the laughing children,
As I cross the sunset sea,
And the gates swing wide to heaven
I can take them in with me.
